Da Caribbean News Ledda

Hi there folks

Whether you know it or not, these words are sent all over the world to different folks of different strokes. Glad you can join me for another brief encounter of the da carib news.

The year is already well under way and there has already been many good times had by all. Today is Valentines Day and it is another day without my beloved Sarah and Lucie,so I'm missing them even more than usual but I'm on charter so I'm having a good time regardless, although feeling a little lonely.

At present I have some wonderful people who are repeat customers to Lionheart from the previous year. Day three on the trip and we're having a wonderful time.

The first notable thing that has been happening around here is that the weather is totally different to the norm. We have had winds out of the north one day and south the following day. The blessing that comes with these strange wind directions is new unexplored areas of this remarkable island group that we can get to visit. With the wind virtually from the opposite direction to normal, the whole reverse side of the islands have opened up and WOW what a fantastic enrichment to the already wonders of this little paradise.

Snorkelling, diving and the beaches have been untouched by feisty hands of the tourism industry, and I'm here to tell you I'll do anything to protect these areas from devastation. What I really notice about these areas is how the sizes of the fish are more prevalent to those of the more populated regions. Fish species that I never knew grew that big even after researching them in the books, I find some of these guys totally off the scale. (no pun intended). The colours, the sheer numbers and their lack of intimidation to onlooker is great. The reefs are unscathed and happily growing madly. The sad thing about those is that a good chunk of these reefs can disappear in the one dropping of an anchor, making these areas just so sensitive to boats and the boating community.

There has been two more days wedged between these words as another charter unfolds before me. The last guys were back for their second time and we all had an absolutely ball together. An extremely fun week as the adverse conditions continue. The wind laid down for a few days but now it is back with all it's strength.

People are saying that all this change in weather may have something to do with a slight shift in the earths axis as a result of the earth quake that created the tsunami in Asia.Who knows, who really knows what's happening to this planet of ours. All that we can hope for is that we, of this generation do little further to the environment so that our children will see the world as we did.

Sarah and I are on the land hunt once again, probably in this area of Cane Garden Bay. There's is just so much beautiful land out there, but it is difficult to find the right piece. We are learning that even your choose of neighbours seems to be a huge issue as well. Because we are not "Belongers" here, we have to publicize our intentions in the local paper, so that if anyone has any objections to the sale, the sale can then cease. We are still strong believers of fate, so we know that eventually we will get the piece that we want.

The Mobbs house hold has grown by one. Four days ago Lucie and I were out riding around on the bicycle when we heard panic chirping coming out of the scrub. We found a tiny little yellow fluff ball in the shape of a chicken caught up in some vines. the mother hen had long gone and probably figured the little chick was destined to die. So try and picture this- I'm riding the bike with Lucie in one arm, she is hold the chick and I have a bunch of flowers in my other hand for Sarah. The people we past in the street thought we were loco, well, we probably were. So now Lucie has a chick by the name of yellow who she can pickup by the throat and toss into the air. She feeds it puts it to bed and takes it for a walk. The little bird thinks Lucie is her mum. It follows her everywhere and gets panicked when she losses sight of her. I hope the bird can endure the constant harassing from those little hands.

This old fella has certainly been getting my share of waves. I have missed a couple of good days but mostly my charters have been beginning and ending around the rise and fall of the swell. Yesterday was the beginning of another charter and prior to this one I had three good days of surf. The best waves still at my home break of Cane Garden Bay and most of the good days have been shared by only a handful of locals which is crazy really because I have heard that other areas were crowded with as many as 40 in the water, mostly US visiting surfers. I hope our little secret hasn't gotten out.!

I hope everyone is healthy and happy.

Think of us from time to time

Still living the dream.

Take care of each other
